The campaign on community Radios in Ghana is for and by the adolescents where adolescents, youth and parents are the target audience. It is called Happy and Savvy Adolescent campaign. The theme is future first sex later. This is where the peer takes ownership of the goals and facilitate towards a positive outcome. Ghana Community Radio member stations have over the years shown commitment in facilitating the most marginalized communities and persons in taking decisions that is participatory enough to help the most affected realised where they want to be on the lather. Commitment of Community Radios in whipping up the enthusiasm to break the barriers to their development aspirations of its listening community is key. Indirect reach or the larger audience of community Radios is determined by what they practice. Currently, eleven member stations are running a programme dubbed Happy and Savvy Adolescent campaign (HASAC). This is a health programme that empowers the adolescent boys and girls to champion Savvy adolescent campaign by using community Radio as resource to achieve the expected results where adolescents are well informed about their future and decisions that will help them accomplish. It is a project that addresses the longevity challenges of the adolescents in a specific group or community.

A specific marginalized group shaping up a decision of future first sex later at a workshop organized by Radio Ahanta, and coordinated by the Ghana community Radio Network.

This ensures healthy lives that promote’s the well-being for all, and at all ages because they are essential to sustainable development. USAID through a health NGO, Communicate for Health (C4H) have supported the Ghana Community Radio Network to run a workshop for the adolescents in eleven Districts in Ghana. The workshop is designed to build the capacity of some selected-peer Adolescent Focal Persons in the three focal communities of the eleven participating Community Radio stations to lead the Happy and Savvy Adolescent Campaign dubbed (HASAC). Among the objectives is to develop the basic competencies to co-produce and facilitate the campaign for a participatory broadcast approach which aimed at developing and strengthening positive norms among peers around Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR). This Nationwide campaign have directly and indirectly reached the targeted audience in more than eleven geographical districts of Ghana.
