gallery Patronise recycled products

There will be high demand of waste materials when recycled goods are being patronized. The demand for supply of waste materials to feed the recycling factories will encourage more citizens to engage in supply of waste materials. Plastic waste has been a major challenge in Ghana. Coastal communities in Ada keep suffering from plastic waste. The communities suffers the end results of sea pollution by plastic waste. No one knows where the waste comes from, but the community members are aware that, plastic wastes that lands at the shoulders of the ocean comes from the sea. The sea wave wash the plastic materials to the shores of the cost from unknown place’s and leave them at the shores. Some community members, mainly the most vulnerable have advantage of the waste that comes from the sea in wealth making. People are now collecting the plastic waste and sell to waste collectors who rely on waste collection business for a living. My news tour to Totope in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region has revealed that, people pick and gather floating materials mainly the plastic and sell to plastic recycling companies in Accra. Totope is a community that lies between the Songor Salt Lagoon and the Atlantic ocean and is one of the communities in Ada that suffers waste that comes from the sea. A campaign for waste to worth initiatives is bringing hope for the communities along the coast as people begin to collect and sell to the recycling companies in Ghana.

The hope is that some members are picking these waste as hobby and thereby creating wealth from the waste they collect.
