gallery Upper Manya Krobo District will distribute 20,000 oil palm seedlings for planting


According to the speech delivered at this years independence day celebration event at Asesewa in the upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region, the District Chief Executive , Hon. Felix Nartey Odjao said the District has nursed a total of twenty thousand pieces of oil palm seedlings at a farming community called Puorkper and will be distributed to farmers for planting in May this year. He further disclosed that, the assembly will nurse forty thousand mango seedlings this year to support farmers under the planting for export and rural development.

The DCE has told the gathering made up of teachers and their students from the primary, Junior high and the Senior high-schools, traditional rulers, market women, artisans, Assembly members, civil servants political leaders the clergy, the security services and the schools cadet corps some innovative interventions the administration has outlined for the overall development of the district.

Sanitation: Hon. Felix Nartey Odjao has praised the Pentecost church for its war against poor sanitation in the district. Hon. Odjao has promised ten trash bins that cost Ghc 155.00 each to be placed at vantage points to curb littering of the streets. He expressed his appreciation to churches and individuals who have also promised to donate the bins in the fight against environmental untidy.

Education: The DCE accounted a total of sixty seven tertiary students have benefited from the National scholarship scheme. He encouraged the tertiary students to visit the National scholarship Secretariat website to register for an aptitude test and submit the results to the assembly for onward process. According to him, Asesewa Senior High School has taken care of one thousand Nine hundred and forty eight students under the free senior high school system including a free meal for students. The District administrators have also decentralised the independence anniversary celebration venues to all the eight circuit centres in the district and have since been celebrating from the year 2019.

Trophy’s: The assembly has shifted from awarding only certificates for the schools that emerged as winners in the marching competition. The planning committee have instituted a trophy to honour the school’s that will take the first position. There will also be a football gala every year to compete over a DCE trophy, a new initiative by the assembly to encourage the youth into sports.

Presidential Awards: This years District level presidential awards of the upper Manya District has been awarded to a 79years old man Mr. Godwin Tetteh Teye. He received a citation and a package for his role in establishing Kwabia Asasehene primary school in 1975. Roads: Government have approved 76km road to be constructed in the upper Manya Krobo district. According to the DCE, 50Km are being worked on including a 4km Sekesua-Trawa feeder roads which has been awarded by the local government and rural development.

Electrification: hon. Odjao said seventy communities in the district are being connected with electricity but the threat is the rampant bush burning which end up burning the electricity poles. He task all community members to keep an eye on those who hunt for rats and grass cutters whose business affect the entire community in a vary negative way and report them to the authorities for the laws to take its course.” A rat and a grass cutter can not deprive the entire community from enjoying electricity” he said.

He also encourage the chiefs and the people of upper manya to continue with their supports to the district.
